Three Kinds of "Click Tracking"
People search for click tracking software with very different goals. Before choosing a tool, decide which kind you need:
| Type | What it answers | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing click trackers | Which links and ads produce leads and sales? | ClickMagick, RedTrack, Voluum, Binom |
| Link shorteners and link managers | How many people clicked this link? | Bitly, Pretty Links |
| On-site heatmaps | Where do visitors click on my page? | Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar |
This guide focuses on the first two, because they're what you need when you buy traffic or promote offers. If you want heatmaps for page design, Microsoft Clarity is a free place to start. To understand the basics, see our guide to UTM parameters.

1. ClickMagick: Best Click Tracker for Most Marketers
ClickMagick began in 2014 as a link tracker and still has some of the strongest link tools in the category: tracking links, link groups, rotators, split testing and dynamic affiliate links. On top of that it adds full conversion tracking with first-party cookies, bot filtering on every plan, and conversion syncing to seven ad platforms. That's why it's the go-to tool for solo-ad buyers and affiliates.
Plans cost $79, $199 or $349 a month (verified October 6, 2026). See our ClickMagick review and solo ads tutorial.
2. RedTrack: For High-Volume Media Buyers
RedTrack tracks clicks and conversions across many traffic sources and offers, with reporting and automation built for full-time media buyers. Compare: ClickMagick vs RedTrack.
3. Voluum: For Affiliate Media Buyers
Voluum is a cloud-based tracker long used by affiliate media buyers. It's aimed at people who run traffic at volume and want to optimize from inside the tracker.
4. Binom: Self-Hosted Click Tracking
Binom runs on your own server. That gives you control over your data and can suit very high click volumes, but you're responsible for hosting and maintenance.
5. Pretty Links: For WordPress Affiliate Links
Pretty Links is a WordPress plugin that turns long affiliate URLs into short, branded links on your own domain and counts clicks. It's useful for affiliate bloggers who place links in content, but it doesn't track sales or filter bots.
6. Bitly: For Short Links and Basic Counts
Bitly shortens links, offers QR codes and shows click counts with basic details. It's handy for social posts and print, but it can't tell you which clicks became revenue.
7. Google Analytics 4: Free On-Site Reporting
GA4 records visits and on-site events, and with UTM parameters it reports which campaigns sent traffic. It won't filter solo-ad bots or sync conversions to ad platforms.
How to Pick a Click Tracker
- You buy traffic (ads or solo ads): you need a real click tracker that follows clicks to sales. Start with ClickMagick.
- You're a full-time media buyer at volume: look at RedTrack, Voluum or Binom.
- You only place affiliate links in blog posts: Pretty Links may be enough.
- You only need click counts on shared links: Bitly.
